2013 has been an inspiring year so far! GEN-Africa has now fully emerged, the networks of CASA (GEN-Latin America) are unfolding, in the USA and Canada the North American Networks are activating and rearranging and GEN-International has incorporated as a Scottish Charity and moved into a beautiful office space in Findhorn (please visit us here if you ever get the chance!) – all in all, GEN is moving and breathing – very much alive!
Last year, for the first time, GEN collaborated with the Earth Day Network (www.earthday.org) to host our first Ecovillage Day – Earth Day. Sustainable communities, ecovillages and interested individuals from around the globe joined. They invited their neighbours and the broader public to an Open Ecovillage Day in their communities to see, taste and experience aspects of resilience first hand. With communities participating from all around the planet it was a beautiful and diverse expression of collective change towards a more sustainable future.
This year again, we invite you to join us by inviting your neighbours to visit your ecovillage project or offering a presentation on ecovillage lifestyles in your city! Any kind of awareness raising activity is welcome – set up a local market, play games, open meaningful conversations, build community!
Also, we will share a sense of mutual support and connection around the world in an hour of silence, reflection and meditation. This will happen at 9.00 am in Rio, 12.00 am in Dakar, 2.00 pm in Berlin, 4.00 pm in Moscow and 9.00 pm in Tokyo.
